Privacy policy

ai-Memo and ai-Memo Pro for iPhone and iPad. Last updated 18 September 2026.

The short version

I do not collect any data about you. The apps have no account, no server of mine to talk to, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you record and what the app writes down stay on your device unless you decide to share them.

Recordings and transcripts

The app listens through the microphone while you record and turns the audio into text. The audio is processed in memory and is not saved as a file. In ai-Memo the transcript stays on screen until you clear it. ai-Memo Pro also saves each transcript to a history, which is a database inside the app's own storage on your device.

The history is not synced to iCloud or anywhere else by the app. You can delete single entries in the app, and deleting the app removes all of it. If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, Apple's backup may include the app's data. That is between you and Apple.

Whisper

Whisper is the default engine. The models are part of the app download and run on your device. Audio and text are never sent anywhere, and Whisper works without an internet connection. This includes language detection, translation into English and the custom vocabulary.

Apple Speech

You can switch to Apple's speech recognition in Settings. The app asks iOS to do the recognition on the device whenever iOS supports that for your language. For languages where it does not, iOS sends the audio to Apple to be transcribed, and Apple's privacy policy applies to that processing. I never receive this audio. If you want to be certain nothing leaves the device, use Whisper.

Summaries and titles in ai-Memo Pro

On devices with Apple Intelligence, ai-Memo Pro can summarise a transcript and suggest a title. This uses Apple's on-device model.

Settings

Your choices (engine, model, language, translation and custom vocabulary) are stored in the app's preferences on your device. The app also keeps a count of finished transcriptions and the date of first launch there, only to decide when to show Apple's "rate this app" prompt.

Sharing

When you tap Copy or Share, the text goes to the clipboard or to the app you pick. What happens next depends on that app.

Permissions

• Microphone: needed to record.
• Speech recognition: only needed if you use the Apple Speech engine.

The apps ask for nothing else. You can withdraw either permission in the iOS Settings app.

Purchases

ai-Memo Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and I do not see your payment details. Apple gives me aggregated sales and download numbers that do not identify anyone.

Children

The apps are not aimed at children, and since they collect no data, they collect none from children.

Changes

If a future version changes any of this, I will update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
