Privacy
Gait and Gait Pro. Last updated 9 August 2026.
Neither app collects anything. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing either app measures or reads ever leaves your device.
What Gait does
Gait reads your step count, distance, walking speed, cadence and floors climbed from the motion sensor in your iPhone, using Apple's CoreMotion framework. It asks for Motion & Fitness access to do that, and for nothing else.
Gait has no HealthKit entitlement. It cannot read your Health data, and the code to do so is not in the app.
What Gait Pro does
Gait Pro reads measurements that Apple Health has already recorded on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and shows them to you. It asks for read access to:
- Step count
- Walking speed, walking step length, walking asymmetry, walking double support
- Apple walking steadiness, and walking steadiness events
- Six-minute walk test distance
- Stair ascent speed and stair descent speed
Read access only. Gait Pro never writes anything to Health. You can grant or revoke any of it in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Health.
Where your data goes
Nowhere. Neither app makes any network request. There is no cloud sync, no iCloud storage of health data, no backend and no third-party SDK of any kind. Your daily step goal is stored on your device; everything else is read when you open the app and is not copied anywhere.
Purchases
Gait Pro is bought once from the App Store. Gait is free and has an optional tip jar. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple; neither app sees your payment details, and Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction.
Children
Neither app is directed at children, collects personal information, or contains advertising or third-party content.
Not medical advice
Gait Pro reads and visualises measurements taken by Apple Health. It does not measure anything itself, is not a medical device, and does not diagnose, treat or make predictions about any condition. Talk to a doctor before making decisions about your health.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
